India’s First Educational Identity Access Management Platform and Marketplace to Launch in January 2016
TAMIL NADU, INDIA and ALAMEDA, CALIFORNIA – December 1, 2015 – EduTone, the company that provides schools with access and identity management tools to make sure technology doesn’t get in the way of learning, announced today that they have partnered with content ecosystem experts, Ingegno Transmedia, to build an India-specific offering of the Global Grid for Learning (GGfL), EduTone’s cloud-based single sign-on (SSO) platform, for schools and institutions across India launching in January 2016.
“The India Grid for Learning will be the first true education marketplace and Identity Access Management (IAM) platform in India, aiming to create a seamless synchronized teaching and learning experience for educators, institutions and schools,” said Julian Mobbs, CEO of EduTone. “The India Grid will also provide an opportunity for Indian and global content owners and educational technology companies to showcase their offerings to the diversified Indian market.”
“Across India, the ways in which students learn is undergoing a fundamental transformation fueled by a generation of children who use digital media to learn everything from beginning phonics to advanced mathematics,” explained Venu Prasad Menon, CEO of Ingegno Transmedia. “Students no longer want to look at a static drawing and explanation of photosynthesis when they can virtually explore the inside of an interactive digital rendering of the process to decode scientific mysteries. Teachers are not the sole voice heard in the learning environment. Instead students participate in their own learning, selecting content based on their interests and using individualized feedback mechanisms to guide their instruction. Instead of forcing them to adapt to old, singularly focused methods, schools must adapt to multiple ways in which today’s students want and need to learn.”
The results of this evolution have been impressive, not just at wealthy private institutions and well-funded public schools, but in states where both school boards and parents alike struggle to make ends meet. “This kind of continued improvement will require every constituent in the educational community – from school boards and parents, to administrators and teachers – to support the up-front investment, the long-term commitment, and the cultural changes required to make the digital vision a practical reality,” added Menon. “Most importantly, this change requires a first step of acknowledging that students are entitled to an education that fits the way they interact with today’s world. The India Grid for Learning aims to establish, enable and implement such a framework and empower educators and students alike.”
“The India Grid for Learning will give every student and teacher their own single username and password and a single point of access to all of their web-based resources. It works on any device and operating system and it doesn’t matter if you’re at school, at home or somewhere in between. The Grid will make it easier for schools to more widely support 1:1 and bring your own device initiatives, as well as mobile interoperability,” added Mobbs.
Ingegno Transmedia is actively seeking business partnerships with existing networks to promote and distribute the India Grid for Learning and customized state Grids for Learning to schools in India.
