Expanded Commitment to Teaching and Learning Includes New Southeast U.S. Office, Installed Base Serving Hundreds of Schools and Incorporating Data Analysis and Visualization Tool into the Global Grid for Learning solution
EduTone, the company that provides schools with seamless access to web-based resources via its single sign-on platform, the Global Grid for Learning (GGFL), has acquired the education division of Alabama-based Information Transport Solutions (ITS). Assets include ITS’ True North data analytics and visual software, a team focused on sales, teacher training, customer service and product development and an existing and rapidly growing installed base of GGFL and True North currently serving hundreds of schools.
“For several years, ITS have proven themselves to be an exceptional partner for EduTone, working with us to resell our software in Alabama and neighboring states,” explained Julian Mobbs, CEO of EduTone. “We also worked with ITS to develop and refine True North, their industry-leading student data analytics tool. Folding their dynamic team and well-received software into our business was a smart way to scale the GGFL footprint and expanding focus on the K-12 education market in the U.S. and worldwide.”
“We are proud of the reputation that ITS staff, software and services have developed among school districts in Alabama and throughout the Southeast,” said ITS Founder Tomi Selby, who also joins the EduTone Board of Directors with the acquisition. “Our team of IT experts will continue to share valuable educator relationships with EduTone while enabling a core team of sales, services and product development staff that have joined EduTone to aggressively scale the Global Grid for Learning Platform’s installed base and capabilities in the education market throughout the U.S.”
True North, which is being integrated into the Global Grid for Learning product suite, is a software-as-a-service platform designed to extract school, teacher and student performance data from multiple sources – including any SIS, formative assessments, summative assessments and demographic information – and provide actionable insights via efficient and user-friendly dashboards to facilitate data-driven decisions. The FERPA-compliant system enables teachers and administrators to immediately pinpoint strengths and weaknesses of each student by standard and develop prescriptive, personalized plans to stimulate more effective teaching and learning.
“Beyond enabling seamless access to web-based resources for students and schools, we now provide seamless access to data in more digestible ways that can make driving student achievement easier,” explained Terry Smithson, President of EduTone. “In addition to True North’s capabilities, we have opened a new office in Wetumpka with a dedicated sales and professional services team that will be in the field every week working with educators to implement and effectively leverage the GGFL Platform to drive teaching and learning.”
